Manual release of the Auto GBox from "P" mode when the car has broken down.

My 19 plate 3008 recently died and came to a stop - On arrival the AA followed an unknown (by me!) and undocumented procedure to get the cars auto gbox out of "Parked" so the car could be pushed to a safe place. The Electric Handbrake wasn't a problem, that released OK. Fault codes showed up on his OBD code reader which meant the car had to be uplifted to Peugeot for rectification. Can anyone give me the procedure for getting the Auto Gbox out of "P"? So that next time this happens again I can move the car to a safe place. Many thanks.
