Squealing noise from engine 3008 19plate
About a year ago we started getting intermittent squealing noise from the engine. It is not getting progressively worse. We spoke to a garage and they did not have a clue. Have attached a short video. Has anyone else come across this and if so what was the outcome. Many thanks Pauline https://youtube.com/shorts/Uk8aCW7X9yU?feature=share

Hi Pauline,
have you confirmed the cause of the noise yet? I have a friend with a 3008 that is intermittently making the exact same noise as the one in your video.
Best Wishes
Chris

Hi
I have the noise too and a video. It's going in the garage, next week for the second time to see if they can find it. Mine comes usually when I first switch my car on. Its very Hugh pitched and people look round at the car it's that loud
... has anyone found out what it is yet

Hello,
Did you ever find the cause of this? My Peugeot 5008 (70 plate) is making the exact same noise. The garage have checked the auxiliary belt and pulleys and can’t see anything wrong with them. Their other suggestion was that it could be the friction tensioners that run the water pump. But they don’t seem convinced… I’m reluctant to pay for expensive repairs when they’re not even sure what the problem is. any advice would be greatly appreciated! It is an Automatic 1.6 Petrol and doesn’t have a cambelt (has a chain instead), so not that.
Thank you!

Hello, the garage have had another look at it today after I found another post with a car making the same noise. It was the rocker cover that needed replacing. This fault can be confirmed by running the engine with the car making the squealing noise and removing the dipstick from the oil. The noise should change if this is the fault. Hope this helps someone else!
I had that same exact noise. I went to Peugeout service and they said without any hesitation that it was the distribution which obviously wasn't.
It wasn't the water pump or tensioner either, it was the valve cover the previous comment mentioned. How did I come to this conclusion? After I read these comments I made the oil stick test the previous comment mentioned and when pulled out the stick the noise stopped and once I put it back in the noise continued. After I changed all the mentioned parts I suggested to the service that it might be the cover and since I changed it there was no noise.
Thanks @Squealy_Peugeot indeed in these services, they have no clue and they just change whatever comes to their mind even if it's not certain if that's the part with the fault.
I wanted to come back to leave this comment so it would help others just like it helped me.
