Hi all , I have a story to tell and no clue what to do next to be totally honest. I will attempt to write as descriptive as possible without (Hopefully) making you nod off !!
Ok so I Purchased a 2019 Peugeot 3008 1.6 Diesel GT Line Premium EAT back at the end of August last year (2022). At the end of middle of december i had the "Engine Fault" & Adblue - Emmisons Fault: Starting impossible in 550mi". At the time I had no clue about the fault or what the repairs needed were so I took it into the main dealer who diagnosed the fault and said that there was a fault with the software in the ECU and the repair would be done for free. I was realy chuffed with the service from the garage I used (A main Peugeot dealer). The guy told me that if the ECU was not updated then it can ruin the Urea tank and would cost alot to repair. I felt lucky they had done this now although the car had been back to Peugeot main dealer in August to have work done so I was unsure why this was not carried out at the same time.
I drove the car for 3 or 4 weeks then the same fault cam up again to say I was gutted was an undertatement. I rang Peugeot who got me booked and the car was left with them. I then get a message to say that the Urea bottle and Injector needed to be replaced at a cost of £1700. At this point I was getting a little suspicious as I had been told that an ECU fault was causing this so why the massive bill ??? Luckily I took extended warranty out so I just let Peugeot and them sort the money out. It took nearly 5 weeks for the parts to arrive so I had to keep takong the damn car in to have the computer reset I as do a lot of miles to work and back. The repair was carried out and the bill was paid by my warranty.
I then drove the car for 4 weeks and the lights cam back on again , I was prety much fuming by now as I was angry we had spent money one parts that clearly did NOT need repacing. I rang them and they came to collect the car and dropped me a loan car of this time. A week later I get a call from them to say that the car now needed 4 new injectors and a nox sensor at the cost of nearly £2500 , At this point I was starting to get a little miffed and , well , Frankly lost my rag a little. After a few calls back and forth my Warranty compny would only replace the 1 Injector as that was the only one that they said was faulty. They were replacing the other 3 and the nox sensor as a precorsion. This would leave me with a massive bill. At this point the garage said they would replace all the parts at no charge to myself. This was very very kind of them but as I explained they had already replaceced £1700 of parts that did not need replacing. The parts were all fitted , They tested the car and I collected it on the 17th April (Yesterday) after nearly 4 weeks. The car was filthy dirty and absolutly no fuel but it was aparently fixed.
So on my way home tonight , The same lights are back on and I am currently in tears writing this. I am completly deflated by the whole situation. I have got to call Peugeot dealer tomorrow and tell them its still not fixed.
The parts fitted at a cost of £4200 odd did not need replacing ? How much more money will it take and what are my rights as a consumer ????
I have realy had enough , The car is a beutiful drive but I have totally lost all faith in it. Have I made the biggest mistake of my life buying a 3008 ??
What do I do next ? ANy help is much apreciated, and apologies for the massive write up.
Dave.
Emmisions Fault , AdBlue ...........
Just an update , First off very surprised no one has any advise but hey it is what it is.
A bit of advice to ANYONE thinking of buying a peugeot DONT BUY IT. Peugeot themselves do not care once they have your £20000 in there pocket, They DO NOT CARE about helping you and DO NOT CARE about there cars that are just 3 years old and are basically NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE. It is COMMON KNOWLEDGE that the ECU is damaging your cars but Peugeot insist you need to pay for there mistake , just like I did. There answer is :-
1) Speak to the garage you purchased the car from , Its nothing to do with us
2) Speak to the garage who is repairing the vehicle.
So why bother having a ' Customer Support ' Department ??
My car has been back into peugeot 6 times now , I have it back on Friday 12th "All Ready and fixed for you sir " , it lasted 4 days untill the EXACT same fault came on again. Car back in Peugeot. This is 6 months now and its getting absolutly silly. The garage has admitted today they have NO CLUE how to fix the vehicle.
I decided to see what my options and the garage my car was in offered to do me a good deal on a part ex if I wanted, I though I would see what deal they could do. They offered me around £11000 for the car !!!!!! Wow what a great deal !!!!! Only loosing £9000 on a car I have been driving for 6 months - THANKS AGAIN Stoneacre. And also bare in mind they have had nearly £5000 repairs that DID NOT need doing as CLEARLY its not fixed the fault.
I am utterly pee'd off with the whole situation , I feel like a Turkey that caught bernard mathews grinning at him. Peugeot are LAGHING at all of us who buy cars from them.
WE ARE JUST A NUMBER TO THEM. Anyone wanting to call these jokers can contact them on 08000 939393 - Good luck !!!
Thanks to my warranty company (I called to get a settlement) asked me why I was asking for the settlement figure. After giving her the shorter story she said the I could claim from the seller as if the vehicle is purchased with the fault then I could basically "Reject" the sale and try and get a replacement or my money back. I dont know the ins and outs but the warranty company even said they would start the process for me. Very happy with them indeed (v12 Finace). PLEASE NOTE :- This process is a long process and needs lots of info from the garage who is repairing ect. I have only just started this process so not much info at the minute.
I called the seller (A large company who i wont mention at the moment) To give them chance to sort the problem without all the faf. They advised that is may be a good idea for me to part ex the vehicle with them and get a newer one !!!! OMG I could not believe that or " Sell the bvehicle private " , I mean are they kidding , realy ??? I then mention the consumer act of 2015 and she shut up and started to give me details on what I already needed to do.
Also from the 2 places that would have my car part ex whould just sell it on at auction and some Poor sod would end up with a car that me , Peugeot and Stoneacre are aware can NOT be fixed. Very responsible guy , another big round of aplause. Get ready for the next unsuspecting seller to buy a car they will be loosing £1000's of pounds on when they cant repair it.
I have absolutly NO idea what the outcome will be. I have only writen the above in the hope it will help someone else. I will be posting this on as many frums as I can as I feel people deserve to know that Peugeot DO NOT CARE.
I have seen so many of these issues since I had mine , Shame i didnt read something like this first.

The peugeot 3008 has an eylos tank, mine put up the stop triangle on the dash, and the adblue light on,I filled the adblue up,but still had the triangle saying STOP ,I took this to my local garage I use ,he informed me of the other diesel treatment tank that is found near the rear fuel tank. This had run empty and was putting up the fault on the dash. My car is the 3008 allure. He filled up this tank and no faults anymore once he had cleared them.
This tank injects fluid into the tank every time you remove the fuel cap, so fill up the tank don't just put 5 or 10 or 20 pound of fuel in,as the more times you remove the more eylos fluid you will loose. Iam a retired mechanic and I did not know of this other tank, and I could not find any information from peugeot either ,so I think mechanics just throw parts at the car and Hope that cures the problem .i hope this can help anyone having this problem.

The next day i had fluid which i thought was oil that had dripped under my car
To cut a long story short it wasnt oil but ad blue
Because i live so far from the garage that sold me the car and they had given 6 months warranty , they reluctantly allowed me to use my own local mechanic
He checked under the car and saw fluid around the tank area
Mine is an adblue bag inside a housing and this has split, it is self contained and you don't need to keep topping up
The mechanic is currently waiting for another bag from peugeot , they are just as useless as in the uk , its only been 2 weeks up to now !!
It also needs a new door strap as the door creaks badly
Anyway i have seen a lot of reports about adblue on the internet and here so it is a massive problem and scandal
I managed to find a no win no fee lawyer in the UK doing a class action claim against peugeot and other manufacturers as they all know about the problems but are not doing anything about it and just taking peoples money for repairs , making them massive profits on the back of peoples misery
They have taken my details online and given me a case number, so even though i live in spain , i just hope it is not refused further down the line being a spanish resident now
Spain is not hot on no win no fee cases, they tend to want to charge you from the outset
Dont forget , adblue will devalue your car , people are avoiding vehicles using it now and if you own one you will lose out on a resale , so we need compensating for this
I would never have bought this car if i had realised it had adblue, i had no indication it used it as it had no filler cap next to the fuel filler as they normally do, and the garage mentioned nothing
So for anyone else suffering from the same its worth trying, they usually take around a third of the compensation for costs at the end
I wont post the link as i dont think it will be allowed , but if you do a search you will find them or possibly another
I do understand why some people have their cars remapped to remove the adblue software , although not legal, but when faced with thousands of pounds, or euros in my case, for repairs just for the environments sake , they sometimes have no choice
Buying a 69 Plate Peugeot 3008 1.5 ADBlue was the biggest mistake I've made and the Service Department where I purchased have admitted that it is the main issue they get coming through the door and causes them nothing but pain. I purchased my vehicle in February 2022. I'd never spent as much on a car before so was really looking forward to collecting it one rainy Thursday afternoon. I picked it up and drove the short 2 mile journey home. By the time I got home the Emissions Fault appeared on the dash telling me I had 700 miles before starting impossible. I called the garage straight back and they couldnt fit me in until the following Weds. It was fixed on this occasion but has been back 7 additional times since and pretty much had the whole system replaced under warranty in this period of time. Whilst writing this the car is in the garage again with the same issue. I've just been told that the Injectors, Main Board and ECU unit all need to be replaced again (which have already been replaced). Parts need to be ordered. Explained that I need my car for work but they could not offer me a vehicle as they are all out. The response I got was the damage is already done so you might as well just drive it.
When I collect I'm going to get them to print me a comprehensive report of everything that has been done in little over 2 years so I can write to their Customer Service Department to see what my consumer rights are. As much as I like the car for its comfort and looks I've lost complete faith in it. The thing is going to cost me a fortune once the warranty expires. I'd be happy with another Peugeot but not one that takes AD Blue. Not had a single issue with anything else in the 2 years.
