Good evening all,

I have a 3008 2010 1.6 petrol.

The cars temperature gauge is generally registering too low, about 70 rather than 90. Although, it will heat up to 90 if left idling or in traffic going slowly.
But, as soon as the speed picks up or, I go down hill, the temp drops.

I went into a garage and said that I think the thermostat is at fault.
They disagreed and said it's the temp sensor.
They changed the sensor but, it's no better. After returning today, they looked at the car but said that they don't know what's wrong.
They've changed the cars thermostat before, four years ago. I think that they would prefer not to do it but didn't like to say.

Before I go ahead and either change the thermostat or, pay to get it changed I'd appreciate any thoughts on the diagnosis.
From cold, before the gauge barely starts to rise, the top hose gets warm and so does the bottom.
Is there anything else that it could be?
Any electrics involved?

Also, I've had a look at the job of changing the thermostat, it doesn't look easy.
Has anyone any experience of changing them?
It's looks doable but a struggle.

Thanks

Chris

I've just completed the job and wouldn't recommend it unless your used to working on cars.

It did fix the temperature issues
