So I have a Peugeot 3008 2017 pure tech allure,

Recently, My car would randomly not start up, the battery would turn on however the engine would not start and the warning light would come up saying 'Monitoring radar fault' and then follow along with immobilizer fault.

This will occur on two occasions. First being while I would drive. Mid driving the fault light would not come on however all the steering wheel functions would disable, this means that, indicators, wipers, and buttons on the steering wheel would not function, Everything else is fine, the car is still driving, all the screens are still on. If I was to turn the engine off, after about a minute or so, it will not turn back on and the fault lamp would show.

Another occasion where this would happen is right from the get go, from trying to cold start - Not all the time though.

Sometimes the car would start normally and all will be fine.

My temporary solution was to disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and reconnect. This has always worked and the fault would not come up until 2 or so days.

When I had my vehicle in at the dealership for a different reason, they had run a full health check on the vehicle and hadn't said anything about that fault, and when I did ask them about it they said they would need to do a battery health check and road test.

2 days ago I went to my local garage and they did a quick check on the battery and said that the battery is in good condition and it could be the alternator, however the battery is mostly fully charged so I don't know how that can be the case.

Has anyone else had a similar issue or is there anything I can do. I do not have a warranty, so going to the dealership cant be the first option.

Hi,

I have had similar problems for a while with my 2017 Allure. The symptoms are that (sometimes - not always) when the car is unlocked the mirrors don't swing out; the car won't start and I get the message "Battery Charge Fault". If I turn the ignition off and on I get various error messages and finally the car will start (the last message is usually "Check front fog lamps" and if I turn these on and off all the red/orange spanner symbols disappear) I have had a new battery and lots of diagnostics showing no issues.

I can minimise the issues by switching off the stop/start system once I'm driving and (not ideal) also disabling the alarm system before locking the car. I have also disconnected the interior boot lamp and switched off all internal courtesy lights. My theory is that the slightest drain on the battery charge causes the 'brain' to think there is more of a problem than there really is.

I have come to the conclusion it is the BPGA - the Battery Power Management Module that sits next to the battery that is malfunctioning but so far I have not taken the next step to buy a replacement off the internet and fit it myself!

I have exactly the same issue with the 'check fog lights' error, then today for the very first time the car would not start and I got a 'battery not charging' error
The RAC couldn't find a fault and (of course) the car started for them instantly.

I'm on the original battery and I've paid to get Halfords to replace it, I'm hoping the battery is just getting old and a good reboot will sort this

I will monitor this thread carefully

dhphoto - I hope that works and if so let us know, however I've had that same sequence of events. When the problem first started at end of last year I had mobile mechanics and Green Flag out, there were no fault codes and it would always start after15 or 20 minutes! At that time the battery was only a year old. I've recently got the car back from an auto electrics 'specialist' who......surprise surprise... put in a new battery. It's still not right and I'm convinced now it is the BPGA.

I think you'll find the new battery will minimise problems for a while but anything that takes power from the battery whilst the car is not running eg. Alarm system, boot open, key in ignition, radio, etc, will cause the BPGA to throw up the errors. It's frustrating because the car runs beautifully and is a joy to drive.

I'm hoping to find someone who has found a replacement BPGA online and can tell me how to fit it!

Best of luck.

Thanks for that information.

I'm hoping a new battery will sort the issue, but I'm not that hopeful. The RAC man said the battery was fine, but this car has had a strange life.

I bought it used, 3 years old with 5000 miles on it, an ex Motablility vehicle that had had the full-monty driving aids attached (you can tell from impressions in the steering wheel & other things)
But the car was otherwise immaculate, it still is, it's beautiful

It had clearly been garaged and used very rarely and I expect hat has not done the battery any good at all, with all the electrical requirements the 3008 demands
It was serviced & MOT's by Peugeot a couple of months ago and has been flawless until now

The new battery goes in tomorrow so I will report back

It didn't work :(

The fault is back after three days with a brand new charged battery

I am at a loss what to do. A bit devastated actually

Auto electrician says car is basically screwed.
Needs hours of diagnostics and probably expensive parts
This will be my last Peugeot

Peugeot have said, without me mentioning it that the car needs a new BPGA

It's going to cost about £800 including their investigations

I have no choice. Ugh.

dhphoto. Blimey that sounds like a lot! They will no doubt do every diagnostic under the sun to justify that price! A new BPGA online can cost up to £150 and as far as I have found out (ok, not yet taken the next step) it's just a question of disconnecting the battery, removing the old one and putting in the new one - no other computer-pairing shenanigans involved.

N.B. Several weeks ago I contacted two peugeot dealers and asked them to quote me for replacing the BPGA........ to date neither have got back to me. The more posts I read about this problem, which seems to occur across different models of peugeots and citroens, the more I wonder if this could be a potential recall issue that the manufacturers don't want to acknowledge.
